IMPRESS is a system for restoration and enhancement of images and video tapes. It does not manipulate the image and has an automatically generated audit trail to register every operation. It has excellent enhancement facilities, the deblur feature is known as outstanding. Also in the field of sequence operations, it offers a lot of functionality, like tracking, stabilization, moving object integration and desktop grabbing.

The IMPRESS software allows offering a lot of functionality, like:

• Storing as compressed media files
• Database facilities
• Filters on entire sequence
• Resizable scroller
• Advanced overlay facility, among others for professional presentations
• A smooth workflow, you can walk through the different panels, applying all required operations to the document. You do not have to store the document after every operation, but just save it in the end after all work is done.

There are three IMPRESS versions:

1. Capture Station
2. Capture Station Pro
3. Ultra

The Capture Station is an ideal low-level station to start with. The Capture Station can be extended to IMPRESS CS Pro or Ultra without any problem.

There are six modules:

1. TV output pack – High quality TV output board allowing the display of processed video on an external monitor and recording it back to tape, if required.
2. Track Pack – to determine an object, to track it, mask, highlight or pixelate/mosaic it. It can be used for masking objects/persons who are not involved in the crime or especially áre involved.
   

   

3. DigiGrabber Pack – among others the very powerful desk top grabbing of digital footage of ‘exotic’ formats which are difficult to load into IMPRESS
4. Digital Footage Pack – containing advanced denoising filters especially for digital compressed video. Also a deblocking filter is included. It also includes super resolution, which will enrich the image and the details are more visible.
   

   

   

   












5. Report pack: the finishing touch of your case work: being able to construct a html page of your case including all details, all images, sequences, audit trails, remarks. And the possibility either to make a back up or to burn the whole project to a CD/DVD.
6. High Definition Pack

a) HDV: being able to capture HD video directly into IMPRESS. A HDV recorder is connected to the IMPRESS system through a fire-wire connector. The MPEG-2 compressed streams can be displayed, processed and recorded as uncompressed AVI media files on the video raid

b) HDMI: The latest development is capturing high definition uncompressed video through HDMI. A number of HDV recorders facilitate HDMI output. The IMPRESS system now can optionally be equipped with a special HDMI video capture card (PCIe), that supports the processing of uncompressed high definition video.
